Rajsunakhala College a premier educational institution of Rajsunakhala, in the district of Nayagarh was established in the year1978 to comply with the aspiration for higher education of the rural students around the locality. It was founded in the memory of the illustrious Odia poet Sri Bhakta Charan Das who has immensely contributed to the Odia Baishnava Sahitya through his epic poem “Mathura Mangal.” Widely known as “BHAKTA VIHAR”, the college stands on scenic site half way between Khordha and Nayagarh alongside the NH 57 (Previously NH 224).
The foundation stone of the college was laid by the then Education minister, Government of Odisha Late Pratap Chandra Mohanty under the accomplished leadership of the founder president Late Krushna Chandra Mishra, the sincere tireless endeavour of the pioneer secretary Late Madhusudan Mohaptra, and the first Principal Sri Sarat Chandra Mishra. Since its inception, the institution is forging ahead to achieve perfection excellence in impacting education to its students. A host of capable principals who worked for this institution for the last 47 years has added to the quality, dignity and image of the college. At present the college has its own building approximately 11 acres and imparts teaching in arts and science both at +2 and +3 level. Facilities in honours teaching are available in Odia, English, Sanskrit, Pol. Science, History, Economics, Education, Psychology, Sociology, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology with adequate teaching Laboratory and Library Support. From student strength of 100 and staff strength of 05 in the opening year, the present students and staff strength is approximately 1400 and 58 respectively.
Apart from academic activities, the college has also earned distinction in fields of NSS NCC and Red Cross. The students of this College have displayed their talents in the academic and co-curricular fields. The teachers of various faculties are regularly going through orientation and refresher courses to keep themselves abreast of their teaching skills. During the last several years the college has been recognised as a nodal centre for the valuation of University Examinations and examination squad by the +2 council, and the Utkal University. As per UGC decision dated 23.08.2011 this college has been included under session 2(f) and 12(b) of the UGC Act. 1956.
