Rajsunakhala College, a premier educational institution of Rajsunakhala in the district of Nayagarh, was established in the year 1978 to fulfill the long-cherished aspiration for higher education among rural students of the surrounding areas. It was founded in memory of the illustrious Odia poet Sri Bhakta Charan Das, who immensely contributed to Odia Baishnava Sahitya through his epic poem “Mathura Mangal”.

Widely known as “BHAKTA VIHAR”, the college is located on a scenic campus halfway between Khordha and Nayagarh alongside NH-57 (previously NH-224).

The foundation stone was laid by the then Education Minister, Government of Odisha, Late Pratap Chandra Mohanty, under the visionary leadership of founder president Late Krushna Chandra Mishra, the tireless efforts of pioneer secretary Late Madhusudan Mohapatra, and the first Principal Sri Sarat Chandra Mishra.

Since its inception, the institution has steadily progressed towards excellence in imparting quality education. Over the last 47 years, dedicated principals and faculty have enhanced the college’s reputation and academic standards.

The college now occupies a sprawling 11-acre campus and offers courses in Arts and Science at both +2 and +3 (Degree) levels, with Honours teaching in the following subjects supported by well-equipped laboratories and library:
